Two men fighting for life after horrific crash on Sir Donald Bradman Drive

Two men are fighting for their lives following a serious crash on Sir Donald Bradman Dr in which the 60-year-old driver was catapulted out of the car.

Two men are fighting for their lives following a serious crash on Sir Donald Bradman Dr in which the driver was catapulted out of the car.

The crash occurred near Wilson St in Cowandilla about 1am.

The 60-year-old driver of a silver Nissan 350Z was thrown from his vehicle by the force of the crash, while the passenger had to be cut from the wreckage.

A witness, Carlo King, 30, was first on the scene and tried to keep the passenger from losing consciousness.

“I was trying to get him to squeeze my hand,” he said.

“I tried to keep the feller in the passenger seat (awake). (He) was trapped in there.... he was in and out of consciousness.”

Mr King said the driver was laying a few metres from the car.

“He was laying down flat on his back,” he said.

“His shoes were about halfway between him and the car.”

Both directions of the road, which connects the airport to the city,  remained closed between South Rd and Marion Rd during the morning rush while Major Crash Investigators attended the scene.

By about 9:45am, traffic was reopened in all directions.

The driver, from Henley Beach, and the passenger, a 39-year-old Greenacres man,  were taken to The Royal Adelaide Hospital where they both remain in critical condition.

Nearby resident Tass Pissas said the road was a hotspot for hoon drivers.

"During peak hour traffic people don’t speed much but after hours at nights we’ve got hoons," she said.

"I’m surprised it didn’t go through someone’s house and injure anyone."

An ailing Nick Kyrgios has pulled out of his next scheduled ATP event in the hope of playing the European clay-court swing and, ultimately, being fully fit for Wimbledon.

The data shows being overweight or obese contributes to 13 per cent of breast cancer cases, which would represent 17,500 cases in the next decade.

Drinking alcohol regularly is the second-largest contributor, playing a role in 13 per cent of breast cancer cases for women who have not yet experienced menopause and six per cent of those who have.
