Humpback whale spotted at Glenelg

A HUMPBACK whale has visited an Adelaide beach in what has been described as a “magical encounter”.

The crew at Glenelg-based cruise company Temptation Sailing filmed the mammal as it swam up to the boat on Saturday.

On its Facebook page, Temptation Sailing said: “Humpback whales are in Glenelg today — such a beautiful encounter.”

The post said the motor of the boat was turned off and a distance of 350m was maintained from the whale — which is required by law.

“We did not expect that it would come over, but it was a magical encounter,” the post said.
