Slippery streets and slick conditions await racegoers at the bp Adelaide Grand Final, with rain set to fall throughout the four-day street circuit event starting on Thursday.
After a warm start to the week, South Australians woke to rain and cool temperatures across much of the state on Wednesday morning in a preview of what’s to come for the rest of the week.
Residents in the southern suburbs woke to rain and windy weather with choppy conditions seen at Port Noarlunga beach which was covered in thick foam.
The South-East also woke to wet and wild weather with Naracoorte, Millicent and Mount Gambier lashed with rain and wind.
Morning showers are expected in the city on Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures due to reach a top of 21C across both days.
Wet conditions will continue on Friday, which is expected to hit a high of 25C in Adelaide, with afternoon and evening showers forecast.
There is also the chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening with showers continuing on Saturday and Sunday, when maximum of 21C are forecast.
Strong wind warnings are in place for metropolitan waters and coastal areas including Spencer Gulf, Gulf St Vincent, and the West and South-East coasts.
BOM has also issued a warning to sheep graziers, advising them to brace for risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to cold temperatures, showers and westerly winds on Wednesday across the Mount Lofty Ranges, Kangaroo Island, Upper South East and Lower South East.
