The rains are finally here! Sort of.
The Adelaide CBD dry spell is officially over after rain was recorded for the first time in 2019 at the West Terrace station.
It recorded 1.8mm of rainfall to 9am on Saturday, ending a 51-day streak of dry weather.
This is the fourth longest dry period in the CBD with the last reading of rain coming on December 21.
The longest dry period on record is 69 days, set in 1809.
Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Simon Ching said the Adelaide Hills copped most of the rain ranging from 5-10mm as Mt Lofty received about 12mm in 24 hours.
“It’s also quite wet in the South East, Mt Gambier recorded 9.2mm (in 24 hours),” he said.
