It’s his first federal election but Archer Craig has more on his plate than simply deciding who to vote for.
The 18-year-old entrepreneur got involved in the election day action parking his food truck at Thorndon Park Primary School to sell milkshakes and slushies to voters.
Mr Craig, who lives with autism, has been running Archer and Alice – the name of the food truck – since September last year.
Since leaving school, his goal has been to get a job in the hospitality industry so he’s been working hard completing a TAFE course and running the business.
“My favourite thing is to make milkshakes,” he said.
Joined by family and a friend, the food truck had a busy Saturday afternoon and Mr Craig said he was “having a great day” at the Sturt polling booth.
“It’s been fun,” he said.
The business may only be seven months old but the Archer and Alice has already travelled great distance serving sweet treats and drinks locally and often in the Barossa and Yorke.
“We’ve been doing concerts, sports day events, we’ve got Mother’s Day next week, it’s great,” proud mum Shellee Craig said.
“We wanted to provide Archer with the skills he wanted and the skills he needed.
“And this is a way we can do that.”
