South Australian Olympic swimming star Kyle Chalmers has revealed his ambitious future career plans, as he prepares for another huge personal milestone after permanently moving back to Adelaide.

Chalmers – who won two silver and bronze medals at the Paris Olympic Games, said he is gearing up to compete in the 2028 Olympics hosted in Los Angeles.

“I love swimming and I want to swim for as long as I possibly can,” the 26-year-old told 7NEWS.

“I have no intention to retire anytime soon.”

Famously known as King Kyle, he said he had his sights set on his fourth Games in LA but an appearance at a home Brisbane Olympics in 2032 may be a stretch.

“If I make it to LA, that would be fantastic, LA I’ll be 30 (years old), so I’ll be 34 (years old) in Brisbane,” he said.

Speaking about his performance at the Paris Olympics, Chalmers said he was not expecting to secure the silver medal.

“I believe I was coming dead last and I’d had the worst race in my swimming career,” he recalled.

“Super proud to come away with a silver medal. For my third Olympics, to be able to medal three times in the same event is something that I’ll be forever proud of.”

Chalmers already has an Olympic gold medal from the 100m freestyle in Rio in 2016 as well as silver from Tokyo three years ago.

The Port Lincoln-born athlete said he believed Adelaide was the “perfect place” to set up his future.

“There’s so many more important aspects to life,” he told 9News.

With four years until the next Olympics, Chalmers is getting ready for his next big achievement – tying the knot to his girlfriend, swimmer Ingeborg Loyning.

“I think it’s her job now to start planning the wedding which I think she’s very excited about,” he said with a big grin on his face.

Chalmers took to Instagram in June, posting pictures of himself with the Norwegian swimmer, who was sporting a stylish ring.

In one shot, Loyning holds out her hand to the camera to show off the floral design.

Chalmers did not explicitly state they were engaged, simply posting a date – 19.6.24 – and an infinity symbol often used to symbolise forever love.
