HEADLINE FIGURES
- $33.17bn debt across forward estimates. READ THE FULL STORY HERE
- Deficit
- $2.59bn for 2020-21, $1.42bn for 2021-22 and $435m in 2022-23.
- Government to pay about $447m less in debt interest payments to 2022-23.
- Forecast GST revenue revised down by $3.8bn between 2019-20 to 2022-23.
- $4bn economic stimulus spend across business support, infrastructure investment, cash payments and tax relief.
- No employment growth forecast in 2020-21 but anticipated to increase by 2 per cent the following year.
TAXES
- $106m land tax relief in 2020-21 and $237m over three years.
- Residential and non-residential landlords can receive 50 per cent saving on their 19-20 land tax liability.

- Six-month payroll waiver for businesses with an annual grouped wages above $4m who receive JobKeeper from January 4.
- Payroll tax exemptions on all JobKeeper payments.
- No payroll tax for any new trainee or apprentice brought on for 12 months.
COST OF LIVING
- 50 per cent hike of Victims of Crimes Levy from next year; youth levy unchanged.
- VOC levy applying to an expiation notice will increase from $60 to $90.
- Most fees and charges rose by around 1.9% on 1 July 2020.
- New road user charge for electric vehicles, expected to generate $1m a year from July 1.
- Upfront payment of vehicle clamping and impound fees at the time of release from July 1.
- The Public Trustee will increase the investment management fee for the growth common funds from 1.0 per cent to 1.2 per cent from 1 July 2021.
INFRASTRUCTURE
- $16.7bn over next four years.
- $8.9bn South Rd upgrade – two tunnels to complete final 10.5km non-stop stretch between River Torrens and Darlington, saving Thebarton Theatre and Queen of Angels church (est. completion 2030, final cost to be determined next year). READ THE FULL DETAILS HERE
- $45m Hindmarsh Stadium upgrade (completion timed for 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup).

- $85m arts storage building to house state-significant works.
- $625m on road projects.
- $100m local government infrastructure spending.
- $22m to upgrade berthing infrastructure at Cape Jervis and Penneshaw.
BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT
- $850m tradies support package for road maintenance and capital upgrades such as jetties ($40m).
- $245m increase in COVID funding relief to businesses and community groups.
- $82m small business grants in 2020-21 financial year.
- $32.9m for 750 new traineeships and apprentices in government projects.
- $35m for district sporting club facilities over next two years.
HEALTH
- $685m to start building Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
- $100m in upgrades to current WCH and QEH.
- $15m expansion Gawler Hospital Emergency Department.
- Health spending increase by $676m than estimated in 19-20 budget.
EDUCATION
- $37m for essential maintenance at government schools and preschools.
- Expected $805m increase in education spend by 2023-24.
- $320m loans to non-government schools for facility upgrades.
- $11.6m for non-government school capital investment.
- $99.6m funding boost for TAFE.
- $1.5m for high-speed broadband in preschools.
HOUSING
- $75.6m Housing Construction Stimulus Package targeted at social and affordable housing.
LAW & ORDER
- $12.1m Sir Samuel Way Building facade and accessibility works.
- $14.2m to upgrade audiovisual link across the court sector.
WELFARE
- $609m child protection budget.
- $124m over four years for “additional” child protection resources.
- $18.7m to consolidate the Adelaide Youth Training Centre.
- $13.6m over three years to provide short-term emergency accommodation and support services for rough sleepers.
- $5.1m over four years funding to the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
- $900,000 over two years on trial program to support young mothers.
POLICE & EMERGENCY SERVICES

- $8.5m over four years for police vests.
- $34.9m over four years for system upgrades.
- $6.2m over next three years for police fixed-wing planes.
- $800,000 to Crime Stoppers.
- Plans to charge event organisers for SA Police presence at major events have been scrapped.
ENVIRONMENT
- $45m over four years to rebuild tourism attractions on Kangaroo Island.
- $44m over four years for natural parks across SA.
- $36.7m over two years to improve environmental outcomes at the Riverland.
- $9.2m for upgrade to Adelaide Botanic Gardens including works to the heritage-listed Goodman and Tram Barn A buildings.
- $28m over four years to increase prescribed burns.
AGRICULTURE/REGIONS
- $52m on a regional road network package, including upgrades to the Stuart, Dukes, Spencer and Riddoch highways.
- $135m toward sealing the Strzelecki Track and $250m for the South East Freeway.
- $185m over five years – including 80 per cent Federal funding – for a “Fleurieu Connections Improvement Package” to fix safety and traffic flow south of the duplication works on Main South Road and Victor Harbor Road.
- Business projects will be boosted with $25m from the Regional Growth Fund.
- $2.3m regional theatre upgrades.
TOURISM
- Further $50m to the Aboriginal Art and Culture’s Centre at Lot 14.
- $120m over four years to tourism marketing.
- Extra $12m over three years to attract new events to SA.
- $20m over two years for a tourism industry development fund.
- $31.2m public realm upgrades of Festival Plaza upgrade.
