SA and Adelaide weather: Thick fog blankets city limits as temperatures set to reach the 20s for weekend

A pea-souper cut reduced visibility for driver with reports of fog in the Hills and the north – as we’re tipped to bask in more warmth later this week.

Thick fog has reduced visibility for commuters into the city this morning with reports of poor conditions in the Adelaide Hills and the northern suburbs.

A chilly Adelaide morning could bring a slight chance of rain and a predicted top of 16C on Tuesday, but the cloudy conditions are set to clear up by Wednesday with sunshine and a top of 18C tipped.

And this weekend SA is set to see temperatures reaching the 20Cs, with a springlike maximum of 21C and mostly clear skies on Sunday in Adelaide – well above the winter average of 16C.

As spring approaches, it will be a far cry from the wintry temperatures seen in the past few days when SA was hit by the edge of a polar vortex.

Leading up to it, Adelaide should see a sunny maximum of 18C on Wednesday before showers on Thursday and a high of 17C.

As it hits the weekend, Friday’s high is estimated to be 17C, partly cloudy with a 20 per cent chance of rain and light winds while Saturday will bump up to 18C and drop to a 10 per cent chance of rain.

A Bureau of Meterology spokesperson said “patchy rain will clear from the east of South Australia this afternoon (Monday) with some light shower activity about the southern agricultural area, contracting to southern coasts this evening”.

“The weather will be mostly settled across South Australia for the next few days, with morning frost and fog patches, but otherwise dry conditions, apart from some light shower activity near southern coasts,” the said.

“Dry conditions look set to return to most parts on the weekend with winds turning northerly, bringing above average maximum temperatures across the state.”

Port Augusta will also enjoy a glorious Sunday and a high of 25C, with mild temperatures leading up to the weekend.

Looking to the Eyre Peninsula, Ceduna’s Sunday is also looking bright with a top of 24C.

Coober Pedy will be sitting on the 20s and mostly sunny for a majority of the week.

Unfortunately Robe will not hit the 20s mark over the weekend only reaching 17C on Sunday.
