Adelaide designer Scott Faulder is looking forward to the eyes of the world checking out his green and gold designs at the Commonwealth Games in July.
At both the opening and closing ceremonies for the games in Birmingham, UK, the Australian team will be decked out by R.M. Williams. Faulder is head of product development for the iconic Aussie brand, founded in SA and celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.
It is the second time R.M. Williams has been invited to design and produce Australia’s “ceremonial kits” for the Commonwealth Games. Our team also wore the brand at the 2018 games on the Gold Coast.
Mr Faulder, who graduated from fashion design at TAFE SA in 2014, said it was an honour to have worked on the uniforms again. R.M. Williams was the ideal fit because of its “quality craftsmanship, enduring style and a uniquely Australian spirit”, he said.
“(We are) perfectly suited to the task of creating uniforms for our most dedicated athletes. The kits blend a modern sensibility with classic Australian style, infused with the traditional green and gold colour palette, along with the unity symbol designed by (Indigenous artist) Jenna Lee.”
Most of the range has been made in Australia –including limited-edition leather boots, handcrafted in Adelaide.
