Two fishermen feared lost at sea have been found after a search involving water rescue boats and a helicopter.
The two unidentified men departed this morning from the Limestone Coast and the alarm was raised just before 2.30pm, according to SA Police.
Just before 6pm, a member of the public pulled them from the water at Guichen Bay near Robe, two kilometres from where the search began at Boatswain Point.
The pair have been taken to hospital for medical attention, but their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening.
The Advertiser understands they are brothers who set off at 10am to check their craypots.
Police boats and aircraft searched the waters around Boatswain Point, near Robe, with the aid of State Emergency Service volunteers and local fishermen.
Further details about the pair’s condition remain unknown.
Local cray fishermen in the Robe area told The Advertiser there are many reefs off Boatswain Point, and there were fears the pair’s boat may have been hit by a freak wave, known as a ‘breaker’.
“There’s a lot of reefs out there and sometimes freak waves can pop up out of nowhere,” one crayfisherman said.
In March, a freak wave claimed the lives of three fishermen near Port Lincoln after their boat capsized, leaving a father and son as the only survivors.
