RAIN and wind have been lashing the state — and there’s more wet weather forecast for the weekend.
Adelaide has received nearly 20mm of rain, Aldgate 27mm and Parndana on Kangaroo Island 33mm in the last 24 hours.
“This cold front which has been moving through the state has reached even into the far north of South Australia,” Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Hilary Wilson told ABC radio.
Adelaide is heading for a top of 14C today.
Saturday is expected to be 17C and windy before showers are again very likely on Sunday with another top of 14C.
The showers are expected to continue on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
Earlier, the wet weather caused commuter chaos in the CBD.
There were several areas of localised flooding, including at James Congdon Dr, Mile End, where southbound traffic was backed up to Henley Beach Rd.
A burst water main on South Rd, Clovelly Park, added to the traffic delays.
The main burst just before 7pm on Thursday, with crews continuing to work on repairs today.
One lane is now open in each direction, with a traffic diversions in place between English and Newton Avenues.
Repairs are expected to continue throughout much of the day.
“Repairs to this section of water main are made complex by overnight rain, the large size and presence of other underground services, but motorists are encouraged to consider,” an SA Water spokesman said.
