Members of the public sector union rallied on the steps of State Parliament on Thursday in a bid to stave off possible cuts in next week’s Budget.
Public Service Association state secretary Nev Kitchin said his members were hit hard last year.
“The rally was essentially about reminding the community that last year’s Budget took the axe to a raft of essential public services,” Mr Kitchin said.
“Our members are fed up with cuts that make the important work they do delivering essential public services harder and harder.”
Premier Steven Marshall said he had a “respectful relationship” with the PSA but asserted the upcoming Budget would be “tough”.
He ruled out any new privatisations being part of the Budget, aside from the potential privatisation of SA Pathology already under consideration.
