TWO Year 12s from elite Prince Alfred College were suspended for disgusting “antisocial” behaviour in their final week of school leading up to their valedictory celebration.

The Advertiser has chosen not to publish details of the behaviour, which sources described as far beyond anything that would be acceptable as end-of-school pranks.

The boys’ school has confirmed the suspensions and has not denied details put to it about the incidents.

Principal Bradley Fenner said in a statement that two students had “got it wrong” with their “unacceptable” behaviour.

“This year’s Year 12 valedictory events were extremely positive overall and provided a wonderful send-off for our students,” he said.

“Whilst most of our boys were outstanding, unfortunately we had a couple who got it wrong.

“Two students were suspended following unacceptable behaviour on Monday, October 23.

“We have zero tolerance for antisocial behaviour.”

The college, which on Sunday celebrated the 150th anniversary of the laying of its foundation stone in 1867, is the third most expensive private school in Adelaide, charging $25,430 for Year 12 fees this year.

The Kent Town school would not say how long the suspensions were for or whether they had any impact on where the two boys could sit their Year 12 exams.

The suspensions were issued just three days before the school’s valedictory day, when according to the college website, younger students formed a guard of honour for the graduating Year 12 class “as they paraded across the front of our beautiful college on their final day”.

They come after Adelaide’s most expensive and prestigious private school St Peter’s College, PAC’s traditional rival, was embroiled in a sex scandal in September resulting in criminal charges.

The Saints students allegedly engaged in humiliating filming and distributing of an invasive image taken at a private party after the annual “intercol” football match against PAC.

Prince Alfred College also made headlines this year when cricket legend Bill Lawry apologised for a gay slur against it, calling greats of the game such as the Chappell brothers who attended the school “a pack of poofters”.

Last month the college benefited from a backflip by Norwood, Payneham and St Peters Council, which had previously banned the school from displaying its name and logo on a footbridge which is to be built over The Parade West.
