Power 50: South Australia’s most influential people of 2021 ranked

He rocketed from relative obscurity to global icon status in the time it took to post a statement on social media telling the world he was gay. Meet SA’s youngest member of our Power 50.

The last two years have seen South Australia put through the wringer. Covid has transformed so much. How we live our everyday lives, how we interact with each other, who we can meet, where we can eat and drink. Where we can travel. The list is long.

In South Australia, the pandemic has pushed new names to the fore – some old names have become ever more important, while yet others have faded away.

Today, The Advertiser publishes its Power 50 list of South Australia’s most influential people. It is the first time, The Advertiser has published such a list since February 2020, just as the virus called Covid-19 was about to take over our world.

Those on the list come from all fields, from politics and sport, to business and the arts, to fashion and the law. All have made a significant contribution to our state.

South Australia has battled the pandemic better than most and this list reflects a changed and changing South Australia and the people who are driving the state into a rapidly evolving world. Tap or click on each picture to learn why each individual made the list.
