Having either been born in SA, or grew up here, these expatriates still call the state home after flying the coop to carve a life out across the borders.

Heading the rankings is Australia’s most senior naval officer whose influence over the nation’s future defence direction is critical with AUKUS.

He narrowly pips the country’s top spy, the intelligence chief whose work in the shadows is keeping us all safe from terrorism and other violent extremists.

Successful entrepreneurs, public servants, executives, judges, musicians – some are household names and a few former Advertiser cadets round out the list.

It was, without doubt, a highly competitive list with some outstanding individuals having narrowly missed the cut.

Some expats, such as sports players, make other lists so have been omitted.

This list is the penultimate instalment in the countdown to The Advertiser’s annual power rankings with SA’s 100 most influential people of 2024 to be revealed next week.
