Detectives have uncovered an abandoned cannabis crop in a bunker at Two Wells, in a discovery believed to be linked to Operation Ironside.

Serious and Organised Crime officers swooped on a property on Coats Rd about 4pm Sunday as part of ongoing investigations into the largescale operation, and found a bunker containing almost 20 dead cannabis plants, and equipment in a hydroponic set up.

The plants and equipment were seized by police but no arrests have been made.

Investigations are continuing.

Revealed last week by News Corp Australia, Operation Ironside was dubbed the most audacious take-down of global organised crime groups involving the introduction of an encrypted messaging service, called AN0M, to organised crime groups.

The app was introduced to members of the group as untraceable, but was monitored by police for three years.

More than 200 people have been charged across Australia and the US, and more than 3000kg of drugs seized, in addition to vehicles, weapons, and millions of dollars in cash.

There were 1650 encrypted devices signed up to AN0M.

During the duration of the three-year operation, 21 murder plots were stopped, including an alleged plot to assassinate a suspected police informant on the Parade at Norwood.

Senior police alleged members of the Comanchero conspired to murder a man the day after Melbourne Cup 2020, by gunning him down with a machine gun.

Police foiled the alleged plan when they found the loaded weapon hidden in a Rostrevor park the day before.

As police continue to monitor AN0M users, more arrests will be made.
