Police are investigating after a video of a young girl being pressured into vaping began circulating online.
In the video, obtained by 7 News, the northern suburbs girl is handed a vape by another girl before inhaling.
In a statement, an SA Police spokesman said the video was being investigated.
“Police are attempting to identify the people involved in the incident,” he said.
“The investigation remains ongoing.”
The girl was handed the vape by her older sister, 7 News reported.
“Have some of this,” the older girls can be heard saying in the video.
“Just do it quickly.”
Police said the Child Protection Department had been notified of the video.
Police urged anyone with information about the video or knows the girls in the video to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800333000 or crimestopperssa.com.au.
The Child Protection Department did not comment on the video.
In March, shocking videos emerged of a child in Ceduna vaping, sparking health warnings.
Cancer Council SA prevention and advocacy manager Chris Morris said vaping may affect brain development in children.
“There is also the risk of children becoming addicted to the nicotine in e-cigarettes,” he said in March.
“Any vaping by young children is incredibly concerning. E-cigarettes are not toys and we urge parents to keep e-cigarettes away from children and not use them around children.
“We know there are kids right now in Adelaide who are waking up in the night to go outside for an e-cigarette,” he said.
