Everyone needs a little more morale right now – for these officers watching over the border, it came in the form of a sick farmer’s dog, and now they’ve adopted him until his owner is better.

Border patrol officers received a much-needed boost in morale this week – taking on dog sitting duties for a sick farmer.
Police and Australian Defence Force officers are caring for a farm dog – they aptly named Morale – in Kybybolite, in the state’s South-East, near the Victorian border.
A local farmer, whose identity remains anonymous for security reasons, became sick in recent days. Officers are sharing Morale’s care until he fully recovers.
Morale sleeps in a tent, and police say locals have assisted by dropping food off to her.
“Morale is great company for the troops, who enjoy taking her for short walks when time permits,” a police spokesman said.
SA Police posted to Facebook on Monday, providing a thank you to locals who helped with providing meals for the dog.
Morale will not be the only dog at the border, with police sniffer dogs assisting with the border patrol efforts.
The sniffer dogs were deployed last month, after police received intelligence that people were hiding in freight carriers in an attempt to sneak into SA.
