A 45-year-old man has been charged over the death of a pedestrian at Rosewater on Friday night.

The pedestrian, a 25-year-old woman from the Far North, was struck by a white Commodore wagon on Addison Rd about 7.20pm.

She was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later.

A short time after the incident, a 45-year-old man from Rosewater presented to the Port Adelaide police station.

He was interviewed by Major Crash investigators before being charged with aggravated driving without due care and failing to stop and render assistance.

He was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court in June.

Addison Rd was closed to traffic in both directions while Major Crash officers examined the scene but it has since reopened.

CCTV footage from a nearby property, seen by The Advertiser, shows a man running up Arthur Street towards Addison Road, followed by a woman, moments before the crash.

Resident Nelson Campos said he at home when he heard crying outside.

“There was a lady laying down on the road with the ambulance trying to resussitate her,” Mr Campos said.

“Then a group of (people) were there crying. It was a very sad moment,” he said.

Another resident, who lives on Addison Road, said she saw the woman lying on the road.

“It’s shocking,” she said.

“We saw the ambulance leave with just the lights on so we had a feeling something bad happened but that’s absolutely horrible.”

The woman said she heard yelling in the evening, prior to the crash, but that was “not out of the ordinary for around here”.

She said an empty bottle of Jim Beam had been been left by her driveway.

The crash came close to 24 hours after a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist on the South Eastern Freeway.

Witnesses are being sought by police after the motorcyclist was killed in the horrific crash on Thursday night.

A 53-year-old Highbury man was killed when a Toyota four-wheel drive travelling on the uptrack lost control and crashed through the nature median strip, hitting his Kawasaki motorcycle and a Subaru station wagon, police said.

Police are “particularly interested” in speaking with the occupants of a dark-coloured Mitsubishi station wagon following the Toyota before the collision, and the driver of a white rigid dump truck towing a flatbed trailer that was in the vicinity at the time of the collision, according to an SA Police statement.

“A Toyota four-wheel drive was travelling outbound on the South Eastern Freeway when it crashed into a Subaru station wagon and a Kawasaki motorcycle, both heading towards the city,” the statement said.

Anyone with information on either crash is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
