The top storey of a home and another property’s shed have been destroyed in two separate overnight fires that broke out within half an hour south of Adelaide.
Police are investigating both fires, which occurred at O’Sullivan Beach and Sheidow Park on Wednesday morning.
In the first instance, the alarm was raised about 12.45am at a home on Sunset Court at O’Sullivan Beach where crews arrived to find the top storey of the structure well ablaze.
Firefighters went into “offensive attack” after hearing people were inside the home, but later discovered the two occupants had already fled. Neighbouring residents reportedly tried using garden hoses to try to stop the blaze from spreading.
The fire which started in a second storey bedroom was contained but the entire floor was destroyed.
About half an hour later, a shed was reported alight at Clare Court in Sheidow Park.
The structure which homed a car and motorbike was destroyed, but no-one was hurt and the blaze was contained to the shed.
The cause and damage bill of both fires is yet to be determined but further investigations will be under way this morning.
Police say there are no apparent links to the fires.
