An Adelaide multi-millionaire has given his parents the shock of their lives – by buying the duo a new house and documenting the heartwarming surprise.
The SA-based entrepreneur and Oodie founder Davie Fogarty surprised his parents with a house close to his own Adelaide Hills property.
In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, which has 354,000 subscribers, Mr Fogarty said he purchased the $1.6m Mylor house, on 2.14ha, as a gift for his parents.
“This would definitely be the biggest purchase that I’ve done for other people,” he said in the vlog.
“They always say just pay it forward but it’s always been a bit of a dream of mine to actually give them something, set them up, make sure they have no mortgage, make sure they can feel secure.”
A realestate.com.au profile of the property shows the house was sold on November 14 after being listed for sale in October.
It has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and is complete with horse stables.
He said he was motivated to do so by the sacrifice his parents made raising the man who would go on to amass a fortune worth half a billion dollars before he has even turned 30.
“When we are young, we are naive to how much our parents give us and then as we grow older we start to realise that this person has kind of almost sacrificed their life so you can live yours,” Fogarty said.
The video shows his mother moved to tears by the surprise while his father said the new home was the couple’s first new house in 35 years.
Earlier this year, Fogarty shared the news he purchased a farm at Mylor for $4.35 million in a YouTube video posted in June.
Mr Fogarty made his millions as the founder of the hugely popular wearable blanket the “Oodie”.
Fogarty’s public profile grew this year, joining the judging panel on Shark Tank Australia.
