A Rosslyn Park couple who returned from work to find a koala making itself at home in their bedroom say the furry late-night intruder “wasn’t very friendly”.
Francielle Dias Rufino and her partner Brunno were flummoxed to find the koala on their bedroom floor when they came home from work after midnight.
Ms Rufino, 32, told The Advertiser she had gone for a walk with her partner and arrived back home about 12:30am to find the koala sleeping in their bedroom.
“I was a little bit afraid because I have a dog and I didn’t want them to get in a fight,” Ms Rufino said.
“I was excited though, and happy, because I love koalas but I was definitely a little scared because I wasn’t expecting it. It wasn’t very friendly.”
Ms Rufino said she called the RSPCA but because it was so late, no one could come and collect the little creature.
“So my husband used a blanket to grab it out of the bed and put it outside,” she said. “I’m just glad it wasn’t a spider. I was so nervous that I forgot my English.”
In the video, Ms Rufino calls for help, telling the person on the other end, her partner: “I have a koala inside my house. I just came from work and he is here and he is a little bit aggressive.”
The couple, who are originally from Brazil, believe their fluffy intruder came in through the doggy door.
In one video, the furry marsupial gives the couple a glance before climbing on the bedside table.
In another, the koala then hops on to the bed before Mr Rufino guides the visitor out the door.
Ms Rufino posted one of the videos to Facebook, with the comment “only in Australia”.
