A northern suburbs father has been charged for allegedly abusing his three-month-old daughter, who was hospitalised for over a month and suffered permanent brain damage.
Police allege the baby was admitted to hospital with severe life-threatening injuries on Sunday, October 13.
She remained in hospital for six weeks and sustained significant brain damage.
Detectives arrested the father of the victim on Thursday, following a protracted investigation by Northern District Child and Family Investigation Section and Major Crime Investigation Branch.
The northern suburbs man in his 30s was charged with aggravated assault cause serious harm with intent and criminal neglect.
He will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow and was refused bail.
It comes after another unrelated incident, where a newborn baby was rushed to hospital with a fractured skull after two teens allegedly stormed a home in Alice Springs.
Emergency services were called to the Larapinta home after reports two males had broken into the property about 2.30pm on Wednesday, December 11.
Police allege one threatened a woman who was holding her two-month-old baby before assaulting her with a blunt weapon, while another searched the home.
The infant sustained a serious head injury and was also taken to Alice Springs, before being flown to Adelaide for further treatment.
