Life changed instantly when COVID-19 hit South Australia, but delivery driver Christine Mical got behind the wheel of her truck like it was any other day.
Medication, medical supplies and face masks were urgently needed as infections swept across the state, but Ms Mical, 60, was unafraid to put her own health on the line.
She has been nominated as part of the Thanks A Million campaign to recognise people who help keep us safe throughout the pandemic.
“It’s good to be recognised because people in our industry don’t get it a lot. But I feel really proud,” Ms Mical said.
“We’ve kept all the hospitals going and it’s been a really busy period.”
Ms Mical was nominated by her partner, Celine Palmer, who also works in the transport industry.
“Drivers still had to deliver to hospitals, GP clinics and dentists and (Ms Mical) just went ahead with it no questions asked,” Ms Palmer, 48, said.
Nominations are open to thank those who keep us going during the pandemic.
