Croydon Park residents will be briefed this week on how the Transport Department will block noise from the latest section of the North-South Corridor upgrade.
Transport Minister Stephan Knoll said a feature of the next stage of the South Rd project, from Regency Rd to Pym St, would be soundproofing along much of the 1.8km length of the works.
There will also be a new pedestrian overpass linking Royce Ave and Hotchkiss Crescent.
“The Marshall Government is progressing the next stage of the North-South Corridor with further community consultation,’’ Mr Knoll said.
“This $354 million project will support 210 jobs each year over the life of the project, bust congestion and reduce travel times.”
He said the section, once complete, would create 47km of continuous motorway to Gawler.
The latest stage is also the first to showcase a new business consultation system, set up by Mr Knoll after roadworks on South Rd caused a series of high-profile small-business bankruptcies in 2017.
The North-South Corridor project team is holding two community information sessions this week.
They will be at the Polonia Sports Club, 7 Essex Cres, Croydon Park, on Wednesday, from 6–8pm, and on Saturday, from 10am–2pm.
