Noel’s Caravans owner’s daughters Naomi Joy Porter and Torie Lee-Anne Cooper speak out about legal action against their father

The daughters of Noel’s Caravans owner Noel Faggotter have spoken out after launching legal action against their father and his new wife – wanting SA to know one thing.

The daughters of caravan mogul and Noel’s Caravans owner Noel Faggotter have spoken out about the impact of their legal action against their father and his new wife on the family business.

Naomi Joy Porter and Torie Lee-Anne Cooper this month launched legal action in the Supreme Court against Mr Faggotter and his new wife Rosemary Dunn over allegations of an “unconscionable” marriage and their father’s ability to manage his millions as South Australia’s best-known caravan dealer.

In a statement to The Advertiser, Ms Porter and Ms Cooper said it was “business as usual” for Noel’s Caravans, despite the ongoing legal dispute.

“Court action involving Noel’s personal affairs has nothing to do with Noel’s Caravans business,” they said.

“The court action is us both acting under our Enduring Power of Attorney for our father Noel, and as a result of our concerns that other people are potentially taking advantage of him in light of his terminal illness.

“All business for Noel’s Caravans is separate from Noel’s personal banking.

“There is no risk to the business and no risk to any deposits or the supply of caravans.”

According to their statement of claim, Ms Porter and Ms Cooper believe their father is no longer fit to manage his affairs after being diagnosed with a brain tumour last March.

They also believe their father’s marriage on July 25 to Ms Dunn, 74, should be invalidated because he was not fit to marry and that Ms Dunn engaged in “unconscionable conduct” by marrying the terminally ill caravan mogul.

In other legal documents obtained by The Advertiser, Mr Faggotter’s daughters claim their father purchased $2m worth of gold and silver bullion – half of which they claim was purchased for the business – just weeks after his diagnosis.

Mr Faggotter’s daughters claim their father, 72, removed about $500,000 of the gold bullion, along with his personal jewellery, from his safe and stored it elsewhere in his home or at another location.

They also claim the location of a $150,000 Land Rover, which was transported to Darwin along with a caravan for a planned trip before Mr Faggotter’s health deteriorated, was unknown.

It is understood both the gold and the Land Rover have since been located.

The rebuild of Mr Faggotter’s caravan park – the BIG4 Blanchetown Riverside Holiday Park, which was destroyed in devastating flooding – has also been affected by the legal dispute, with managers Michael and Lisa Donald abandoning the project this month amid claims they were owed more than $80,000 for the works.

It is understood the amount being sought is now significantly less and Ms Porter and Ms Cooper were inspecting the work and hoping to reopen the park at some stage but a clear path forward had not yet been established.

Ms Dunn declined to comment but was expected to lodge a defence in the Supreme Court on Friday.
