A VIRTUAL video tour that peers inside the nooks and crannies of the new Royal Adelaide Hospital — complete with uplifting music and commentary — has been released by the State Government.

The video, a walk-through of the newly-finished $2.3 billion hospital, follows journalist Jane Reilly through the walls and hallways of “one of the most advanced hospitals in Australia”.

Its release comes one day after the State Government announced the hospital’s “technical completion”.

The images and video inside the hospital include the “two-storey glass atrium foyer” through to the hospital’s Emergency Department.

While the State Government has copped criticism from both the Opposition, clinicians and nurses over the size of the hospital, Reilly states the “hospital is bigger than the existing Royal Adelaide Hospital” with a total of 800 beds, with every patient getting a single room.

The video then shows still shots of the theatre rooms, Intensive Care Unit, the hospital’s helipad and internal gardens, including terraces and sky gardens said to aid in patient recovery.

Reilly appears to have been chosen as a friendly face to spruik the long-delayed and over budget hospital to South Australians.

She says the “colours and textures” of the hospital “create a peaceful and relaxing environment” for patients.
