A group of neo-Nazis have photoshopped themselves at a popular Adelaide Hills pub performing the Nazi salute to celebrate Adolf Hitler’s 134th birthday in an attempt to recruit members.
The Advertiser obtained the photoshopped image of at least eight men performing the offensive gesture at the pub.
The image was doctored and posted to coincide with Hitler’s 134th birthday on April 20.
One of the men is seen holding a framed image of Hitler at the back of the image while another four men are seen at the forefront of the image holding beer and another framed image of Hitler.
An Adelaide Hills pub owner called the fake image “disgusting” and said it was photoshoped and no such event occured at his venue.
He said any call to recruit members to a neo-Nazi group was not to be tolerated in South Australia.
“The association that is trying to position themselves at a venue via photoshop is inappropriate and it’s defamation of our businesses and an insult to staff and the public.
“We would, if we find out who the people are, take legal action.”
The men are purportedly members of a notorious group known as the European Australia Movement.
The image contained two signs promoting people to “join your local active club”. Active Clubs are an international signal for white supremacy crews.
The South Australian group operates on Telegram – a messaging app with a focus on security.
There the group circulated the image with signs to “join” the crew.
The image’s release comes after the Herald Sun reported a group of neo-Nazis being photographed performing the Nazi salute at the Bavarian Restaurant at Knox City shopping centre in Wantirna South where they had gathered to allegedly celebrate Adolf Hitler’s birthday.
The group of nearly 20 men were escorted from the venue by police, with another image showing a man performing the salute in front of a group of officers in the Knox O-Zone carpark.
Neo-Nazi Thomas Sewell, who leads the European Australian Movement, said the group had a “great and eventful night” where they enjoyed “great German food, beer and company”, according to leaked correspondence from encrypted app Telegram.
The message, which was seen by 3206 people, said the group gathered on Thursday April 20 to celebrate Hitler’s 134th birthday party.
