A MOTORCYCLIST has admitted his careless riding caused the death of a mate in a head-on crash at McLaren Flat last year.

Rene Schroeder today pleaded guilty in Adelaide Magistrates Court to one aggravated count of driving without due care, over the crash which killed fellow motorcyclist Ashleigh Snape in July 2015.

Schroeder, 33, also suffered serious injuries in the crash and was originally charged with the more serious offence of causing death by dangerous driving.

However, prosecutors agreed to drop that charge in exchange for Schroeder admitting to the careless driving charge.

Magistrate Ian White remanded Schroeder on continuing bail ahead of sentencing submissions in July, when Mr Snape’s family will provide victim impact statements to the court.
