Motorcycle rider clocked at extreme speed with bald tyre | Hoon caught performing burnouts at Waterloo Corner | Attempted theft of taxi in CBD

A motorcyclist was clocked at extreme speed, a hoon was caught doing burnouts near a crowd and a man was nabbed after stealing a taxi, in a raft of offences overnight.

A motorbike rider was caught dicing with death after he was allegedly clocked riding at dangerous speeds at Bolivar, with his bike tyre bald to the wire.

Police say the black Yamaha was spotted on Port Wakefield Rd travelling in excess of 160km/h, about 12.54am on Saturday.

The PolAir helicopter tracked the bike through the northern suburbs, where it allegedly topped 180km/h, before it turned onto the Port River Expressway towards western Adelaide.

The bike was tracked to a Taperoo home, and the rider was arrested. The Yamaha was found to have a rear tyre so bald, the metal wires were exposed.

The male rider, 19, was charged with driving at an extreme speed, drive with a disqualified licence and numerous other traffic offences

The Yamaha was impounded and the rider was bailed to appear in court at a later date.

Nearby to where the bike was first spotted, at Waterloo Corner, a man’s car was impounded after he was caught performing burnouts.

Police responded to reports of dangerous driving by multiple cars on Robinson Rd, near Driver Rd, about 11.20pm on Friday.

PolAir kept an eye on the cars, and saw a Ford sedan performing burnouts on Penfield Rd near Heaslip Rd with bystanders nearby.

The driver of the Ford, a male, 18, was stopped and reported for misuse of a motor vehicle.

His car was impounded for 28 days and he was summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

It comes as a man was arrested after allegedly stealing a taxi in the CBD on Friday night.

Police say a taxi driver had stopped on King William Rd about 9.30pm on Friday, and got out of the taxi for a short period of time.

As the driver stepped out, another man got in to the taxi and drove west on Waymouth St, before colliding with a parked car on Currie St.

The suspect ran from the scene but was quickly apprehended.

The Munno Para man, 28, was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, driving without due care and other traffic offences. He was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
