THE future of top rating FM brekkie duo Jodie Oddy and Mark Soderstrom is in doubt after it’s been revealed Mix 102.3 tried to replace them with Nova’s Dylan Lewis and Shane Lowe.
Confidential understands Mix 102.3 content director Chris Cotton made an approach to the Nova pair just over two weeks ago — days after this year’s second radio ratings survey was released — offering them the early morning shift currently filled by Jodie and Mark.
While Dylan and Shane declined to comment to Confidential, a senior Nova source confirmed the offer was made, which the presenters rejected.
Nova program director Dave Shearer wouldn’t speculate on the rumours but said: “Shane and Dylan are contracted to Nova until the end of 2015, they’re an integral part of us going forward and we’re very much looking forward to working with them in 2016,” he says.
A Mix spokeswoman says there is “absolutely no truth” to the rumours.
The latest ratings show the Mix brekkie show picked up 1.1 points — 2.3 points clear of Nova 919’s Lewis and Lowe — to sit in first place on the FM dial.
But ‘Jodie & Soda’ is in third spot overall, 4.5 points behind ABC891, when as recently as the final survey of last year, it was ranked equal first. Popular longtime anchor Jason ‘Snowy’ Carter left the show in December.
Mark, who declined to comment, joined the show in February last year, replacingMark Aiston. Jodie didn’t return calls from Confidential.
