THE family of an Adelaide grandmother missing in Malaysia will make one last mercy dash to the Asian county as money to fund their agonising search dries up.
Annapuranee “Anna” Jenkins, 65, of Glenelg North, vanished on December 13 in Penang on the way to visiting her sick 101-year-old mother at an aged-care home.
Daughter Jen Bowen and other family members will travel to Malaysia again this month but fear dwindling finances will halt further searches.
A MyCause crowd-funding page has been set up to support the August 16 trip.
Almost $3000 of the $12,000 goal has been raised.
Ms Bowen said the family has enough funds to search for only 10 days.
“Our advice has been if we don’t look for Mum, nobody is going to,” she told the Sunday Mail.
Ms Bowen will meet the Royal Malaysian Police with help from a High Commission representative from Kuala Lumpur.
“We’re at the point where the Malaysian police are very difficult to get in touch with,” she said.
“The meeting will be an update (on the investigation).”
Ms Bowen says the journey is a “last big push” and that the family was prepared to search for a body.
“We’re going to be looking in jungles, monsoon drains, morgues and hospitals,” Ms Bowen said.
“You go to bed with it, you wake up with it, you constantly try to find different ways to search for Mum.”
