Meet South Australia’s 25 most influential women in sport

From players and coaches to Olympians and administrators, which women wield power and shape the future of sport in South Australia?

All eyes turn to Adelaide this weekend, as stars of the Women’s Big Bash League – among the world’s best cricketers – begin to play a string of T20 matches at both Karen Rolton Oval and Adelaide Oval.

From Sydney Sixers’ Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy, to Sydney Thunder’s Indian superstars Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma to the Adelaide Strikers’s pace bowler Megan Schutt, Adelaide transforms into the epicentre of women’s cricket.

There will be 15 games played from November 6-21, including the Strikers taking on the Melbourne Stars in a must-win match at Karen Rolton Oval on Saturday from 1.10pm.

To celebrate it, sports reporter Liz Walsh – in conjunction with legendary and pioneering women’s sport advocate Marg Ralston – has compiled a list of the 25 South Australian women who wield power and influence in sport both locally and abroad.
