A promise to “protect” and “support” Matty Hegan’s three young daughters is among touching tributes for the 32-year-old killed in a car crash at Humbug Scrub on Saturday.
A GoFundMe page has raised $12,915 towards a $25,000 goal to support Mr Hegan’s daughters Lily, Charlie and Bobbi “now and into the future”.
Mr Hegan, of Elizabeth East, was killed when the car he was driving was found crashed in a paddock near the intersection of Kersbrook and Kelly Hill roads.
The cause of the crash is still unknown.
James Atkins wrote on the fundraising page: “Matty, you’ve clearly touched the hearts of a multitude of people and will be missed dearly. I love you brother, I promise to protect, guide and support your beautiful girls for as long as I breathe. I love you.”
On Facebook, Mr Hegan was remembered as being a “lovely guy, who adored his girls and will be missed terribly”.
Another person added: “Matty, gone far too soon mate. Words cannot express the sadness and loss that I am feeling. Not going to be the same without you. I’m broken.”
On a family photo posted on Mr Hegan’s mother’s Facebook page, one tribute read:
“This is such devastating news. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. You are a strong person and will get through this together with Courtney and all the beautiful kids.”
Another person wrote: “I have absolutely no idea what to say at this tragic time and I still can’t believe little Matty is gone. Such a perfect, innocent soul taken way, way too soon.”
