A man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder for allegedly assaulting a man and leaving him with serious injuries at Smithfield.
Police were called to the Smithfield Hotel about 5.45pm on Monday, following reports of an assault.
The victim, a Craigmore man, 47, was located with severe facial injuries and immediately taken by paramedics to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
following investigations Northern District Detectives arrested an Elizabeth Grove man, 53, on Tuesday.
He was charged with attempt murder and aggravated assault causing serious harm.
He was refused bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
The assault was not random, police said, and was not linked to a recent stabbing murder in the Adelaide CBD.
