Man reported for crash that killed Peter Chiappetta on Port Rd

THE family of Peter Chiappetta, who was killed on Port Rd early on Saturday morning, have released a simple and touching statement about their tragedy.

A DRIVER has been reported for a fatal crash at Hindmarsh on Saturday morning that killed pedestrian Peter Chiappetta.

Mr Chiappetta, 57, of Paradise was killed when a car hit him on Port Rd about 12.25am on Saturday.

In a statement, Mr Chiappetta’s family said he was “very much loved by his family and friends”.

“He was well-respected and will be sorely missed,” the statement says.

“His family would like to thank everyone for the love and support given to them during this very difficult time.”

The driver of the car, a 35-year-old Brompton man, was interviewed by Major Crash investigators on Saturday night and reported for causing death by dangerous driving.

He will be summonsed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Mr Chiappetta’s death takes the state’s road toll to 96, compared to 92 at this time last year.
