A man has died in a suspected drowning at one of South Australia’s most picturesque locations.
The man, a 69-year-old from Parkside, was pulled from the ocean unconscious at Island Beach, in Kangaroo Island’s northeast coast just after 7.20pm on Sunday.
Despite the efforts of paramedics and other members of the public, the unresponsive man died at the scene, almost 20km from Penneshaw.
A police spokeswoman said officers will prepare a report for the Coroner, to determine how the man died.
No further personal details were released about the man, including his age and where he lives, while his family were being told about the tragedy.
She said police “wish to thank those members of the public for their assistance”.
There are no suspicious circumstances.
