Police were called to Jamieson Rd around 3.40pm after reports a Toyota Camry had crashed with a parked car then drove off.
The parked car had three occupants at the time but they were not injured.
A witness to the crash managed to take the registration number of the Toyota, and provide the details to police as well as a description of the driver.
The witness reported seeing a young child in the car at the time of the crash.
Police managed to track down the vehicle’s registration owner, which led them to an Elizabeth Park address.
The suspected driver, a 38-year-old man, was found and police conducted a breath test.
He allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.389 – almost eight times the limit.
He was reported for failing to provide details at a crash, aggravated driving without due care and drink driving, and lost his licence on the spot for 12 months.
