In dramatic scenes on Sunday, stunned shoppers have watched on as bystanders held down a man who allegedly assaulted a 43-year-old mother in Rundle Mall.
A 37-year-old Adelaide man, who is alleged to have had an ice pipe in his possession, has been charged after allegedly assaulting the North Adelaide mother at 12.15pm on Sunday.
The mother was taken to hospital for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries and did not know her alleged attacker.
Multiple members of the public held the man to the ground until police arrived and placed him under arrest.
The 37-year-old was charged with assault cause harm, resist arrest, refuse to state name, breach of bail and possession of prescribed equipment (an ice pipe).
He did not apply for bail and is set to appear before the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
