Man and woman charged after southern suburbs break-in and brazen police pursuit
A couple face serious charges after allegedly breaking into southern suburbs properties, then leading police on a brazen police pursuit which lead to the man charged over a robbery that occurred nearly a decade ago.

A man was charged over a robbery that occurred nearly a decade ago, after he was accused of involvement in a spate of break-ins – with another female suspect – that led to a wild police pursuit in the southern suburbs.
Witnesses reported two people had broken into a communal garage on The Esplanade, Somerton Park, just before 3am on Friday.
The two people were also reportedly seen breaking into vehicles according to police.
A resident of an apartment on The Esplanade woke up to noises and found a person inside the property, and quickly called police.
The person fled the scene in a dark coloured vehicle, police said.
At 3.10am, patrols spotted a Hyundai sedan driving along Majors Rd, with further checks revealing the car had been stolen from Edwardstown, the day before.
Police tried to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop, which led to a pursuit onto Main South Rd, where the car joined and continued on the expressway while driving on the wrong side of the road.
Police stopped the pursuit because of safety reasons but continued to secretly observe the car.
By 3.25am, the car was found abandoned in a driveway on Norman Court, after it had collided with a parked caravan.
Patrols and Dog Operations with PD Jax quickly jumped into action and found a man hiding in a nearby construction site, then later recognised the second suspect from CCTV after she walked past.
A 22-year-old woman from Rosewater and a 36-year-old man were both arrested at the scene.
They were charged with illegal use, serious criminal trespass, unlawfully on premises, theft and dangerous driving to escape police pursuit.
Police also searched the car and found property believed to be stolen from the break-in’s earlier that morning at Somerton Park.
A further investigation on an incident at a hotel in Findon on May 9, 2015, led to the man facing further a robbery charge – based on forensic evidence.
He was refused police bail and appeared at the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Friday.
