Serious crash at Frances, near Naracoorte after man, 46, dies in crash near Port Lincoln

A man was killed and his female passenger is critical after a shocking crash near Port Lincoln. Meanwhile, a car has struck a tree near Naracoorte.

Major Crash Investigators have gone to the scene of a serious incident at Naracoorte, where a car has hit a tree.

Police received reports that a car struck a tree on Frances Rd, at Frances, about 11.30am on Sunday morning.

Frances Rd is closed and motorists are asked to find an alternate route.

It comes less than 24 hours after a man was killed and a woman was left in a critical condition after their car hit a Stobie pole at Tulka, near Port Lincoln, on Saturday night.

Police were called to Proper Bay Rd about 9.45pm following reports that a car had crashed into a Stobie pole.

The local man, 46, died at the scene and his passenger, a Whyalla Stuart woman, 53, was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Proper Bay Rd was closed but has since reopened to all traffic.

South Australia’s road toll now stands at five lives lost this year, compared to 10 at the same time in 2021.

The crash at Tulka follows a fatal car rollover on January 28 at nearby Kellidie Bay, on the adjacent side of the Eyre Peninsula.

The driver of a Nissan Patrol, a Port Lincoln man, 21, died at the scene when the car he was driving rolled on Snapper Hill Rd.
