Magill Youth Training Centre demolition starts

Messenger East: WORK to demolish the Magill Youth Training Centre has started today.

WORK to demolish the Magill Youth Training Centre has started today.

The former youth justice centre will make way for a 260-block housing estate.

The first phase of the development, announced in 2006, will include the demolition of three houses at 17, 19 and 21 Glen Stuart Rd, Woodforde.

A State Government works notice said disruptions for nearby residents would be kept to a minimum during the demolition.

In October, the East Torrens Messenger reported neighbours were concerned by the potential impacts of the development.

Speaking at the time, Olive St resident Barbara Love said the hosing estate would "change the quiet, little community".

The centre is on the western boundary of the Adelaide Hills Council area and shares a border with Campbelltown.

Demolition is expected to be finished by the end of next week.
