An Adelaide Hills vet has been deemed “medically unfit to practise” and suspended by the state’s veterinary board.
In a statement released by the Veterinary Surgeons Board of South Australia, Dr Catherine Helen Motter, who has been practising from the Littlehampton Veterinary Clinic at Littlehampton, near Mount Barker, has been deemed “medically unfit to practise” after the board received a medical report.
The board is conducting an inquiry under the Veterinary Practice Act 2003, suspending Dr Motter’s registration until at least March 31, for the “public interest” after “careful consideration of the circumstances”, according to the statement.
The statement said the board’s main priority is to care for the health and wellbeing of animals.
“In suspending the registration of a veterinary surgeon on an interim basis, the board is mindful of its obligation to protect animal health, safety and welfare and the public interest,” it said.
“The board is careful when making such decisions to ensure that a fair and proper procedure is followed.”
Attempts to contact Dr Motter were unsuccessful.
