Lawyer for Angelika Gavare accuses former boyfriend of killing Vonne McGlynn
LAWYERS for alleged killer Angelika Gavare have accused her former lover of being responsible for the death of pensioner Vonne McGlynn.
LAWYERS for alleged killer Angelika Gavare have accused her former lover of being responsible for the death of pensioner Vonne McGlynn.
Gavare, 35, of Christie Downs, is standing trial in the Supreme Court.
She has denied murdering Ms McGlynn, 82, on or about December 3, 2008.
Prosecutors have alleged she was motivated by greed, and wanted to profit from the sale of Ms McGlynn's house on Somerfield Ave, Reynella.
They claim she murdered and dismembered the pensioner, then dumped pieces of her body in a creek near her own Christie Downs home.
Today, the court heard evidence from Gavare's former lover, Giuseppe Daniele.
He said they had fathered a child together before their relationship broke down, and he severed all ties with Gavare.
In a heated exchange, defence barrister Grant Algie, QC, said Mr Daniele was not telling the truth.
"I suggest that on December 3, 2008, you went to Ms Gavare's house, knocked on the door, burst in and told her there had been a terrible car accident," Mr Algie said.
"You wanted her to come with you, to follow you to Somerfield Ave... you went into Number 6 (and) inside was Ms McGlynn, seriously injured.
"You wanted to make the inside of her house look like a burglary... you moved things inside the house and put things into Ms Gavare's car.
"You threatened to kill her, or to kill her family, if she went to the police."
Mr Daniele responded by laughing.
"You've been misled, sir, by Ms Gavare," he said.
"She is a compulsive liar... you need to check your facts."
Mr Daniele admitted he had driven past Gavare's home sometime in December, but said it was not on the 3rd.
He said he was looking to find her address so he could file papers seeing custody of the couple's daughter.
Mr Daniele said he went out of his way to avoid Ms Gavare, who gave him "a bad vibe".
The trial, before Justice Trish Kelly, continues.
