Kid-time for MKR kitchen queens Bree May and Jessica Liebich
THE one thing My Kitchen Rules winners Bree May and Jessica Liebich want this Mother’s Day is quality time with their families.
THEIR dreams came true when they were crowned the winners of My Kitchen Rules, but there is one more thing Bree May and Jessica Liebich want this Mother’s Day — quality time with their families.
The long-time friends said being away from their husbands and children for five months during filming for the Channel Seven reality television show will make this year’s Mother’s Day “extra special”.
“I’m just looking forward to spending the day with my family and then my extended family, because I haven’t seen them for a while either,” Liebich said.
“Usually my husband will organise a present, we might all go out and get it together, and there'll be lots of hugs and kisses in the morning. It’s a pretty laid back kind of day.”
It will be an all-girls affair for the mothers-of-two, who each have two daughters around the same age. Liebich is the mother to Alani, 5, and Leela, 2, with her husband Luke, and May is the mother to Eden, 5, and Winter, 3, with her husband Cory.
“It’s the first Mother’s Day in our ‘own home’,” said May, who was moving into a new house while MKR finals were screening on TV.
“We’ve been renting for years so it’s really exciting. I just want to spend the day with my family. I’d be happy to sit on the couch and do some gardening.
“My husband might get the girls in the kitchen to make (me) breakfast in bed.”
The $250,000 winners say they’re incredibly grateful to their husbands who encouraged them to enter the show.
“It could have been easier for them to say ‘come home’ when times got tough,” Liebich says.
May adds: “He’s definitely happy to have his best friend and his partner back. This Father’s Day he’s going to be getting something pretty super awesome.”
