THE cost and location are fixed but the finer details of a new $528m women’s hospital, announced this week by the State Government, are still up in the air.
The new Women’s Hospital set to be built next to the Royal Adelaide Hospital was announced with much fanfare by Premier Jay Weatherill and Health Minister Jack Snelling on Tuesday, but basic information about it remains unknown.

Mr Snelling told Question Time on Wednesday the number of beds and operating theatres set to be built in the new hospital would be informed by “clinical advice”, but assured the Parliament he was confident the $528 million cost was accurate.
He repeatedly told Opposition Leader Steven Marshall the new hospital was “about more than just beds”.
The lack of detail follows criticism that separating the Women’s and Childrens Hospital would not improve patient care.
