AN armoured military vehicle casually parked on the side of a busy city street has drawn bemused looks from passing drivers and pedestrians, as well as a parking ticket.
The Daimler armoured car was parked on Flinders St from Thursday morning but was only ticketed around 3pm.
With no windscreen wipers available, the parking inspector casually stuck the ticket to the side of the assault vehicle, which was produced in Britain for use in World War II but continued to be a staple of armed forces throughout the 1950s.
When asked whether he had ticketed any armoured vehicles before, the parking inspector told The Advertiser the Daimler was not his first tank.
Unsure whether it was the same vehicle, the parking inspector said he had ticketed a similar military transport which had overstayed its welcome on a metropolitan street several years ago.
The Daimler was converted to be roadworthy — and road rage shouldn’t be an issue because its 40mm anti-tank cannon has been removed.
The standard vehicle holds up to three crew and can reach speeds of up to 80km/h.
