A SERIOUS incident on a St Peter’s College school camp involving a knife last week has been referred to police.
In response, the school issued a statement saying the incident — reportedly involving 13-year-old boys sharing a tent — was being treated with the “utmost seriousness”.
A spokeswoman told The Australian the incident involve the misue of a knife.
“The wellbeing of our boys is paramount to the school,” the statement reads.
“St Peter’s College assures the school community that the incident has been brought to the attention of all relevant authorities, including SA Police.
“Given children are involved, we are unable to disclose any further details and are treating the matter with the highest level of sensitivity.”
Acting headmaster Sam McKinney sent a letter to parents saying the incident “concerned interaction between a small group of boys and was isolated to this group of boys”.
“The matter was raised with a teacher while on camp and the teacher took action at that time,” he said, adding it was being “fully investigated” by the school.
“We have no ongoing concerns for the safety of any member of our community and we are working closely with the families involved to resolve the matter appropriately.”
Police told The Advertiser they were aware of the incident but declined to comment further.
