Another Adelaide building company is facing an uncertain future, after lengthy delays on 27 unfinished homes left dozens of owners in the lurch.

Seven Star Construction has had its licence suspended by Consumer and Business Affairs after dozens of complaints about substantial delays on builds at Modbury and Plympton.

Zara Sanders is one customer who told 7News she signed up to build her first home, a townhouse at Modbury in 2020.

But three years on and she hasn’t moved in.

“A year and a half in, that’s when the neighbours collectively started to kind of communicate to each other and we realised that we’ve really got some problems here,” she said.

She said the build suddenly stopped in 2021 and the owner of the construction company Qamil Veseli, had no answers.

“He hasn’t really been answering people’s calls, there’s not really much communication happening from his end,” she said.

“At the end of the day, I just want to live in my dream home.”

In a statement to 7News, Mr Veseli said he felt bad for his customers.

“Everything has gone out of control, at the moment we’re under big pressure,” he said

Housing Industry Australia executive director Stephen Knight said he was concerned about Mr Veseli’s welfare.

Consumer and Business Services regulation and advice director Fraser Stroud told 7News they would continue to engage with the company.

“As a consequence of that we will move to the next stage when appropriate,” he said.

The situation is similar to the collapse of the Felmeri Group.

The company was placed in administration in May, but then lost the support of a national construction firm in a last-ditch rescue plan last month.

The company’s debt pile was estimated to be more than $20m.
