A Yorke Peninsula man has suffered a “serious bite” from his dog – the second attack by the animal in 12 months.

The dog attack occurred in Paskeville, 130km northwest of Adelaide, about 4.30pm on Friday.

An ambulance spokeswoman told The Advertiser the victim was a man in his 20s.

He was “conscious and breathing” but had suffered a “serious bite” to his arm, the spokeswoman said.

A Paskeville resident, who asked not to be named, told The Advertiser the dog belonged to the man and it had attacked him 12 months earlier.

“(In the previous attack) he was bitten on the face and was in hospital for a while,” the local said.

“It’s a big, ugly, vicious, brown dog.”

“Whenever you walk past it tries to have a go at you from the other side of the fence.”

It is understood the attack occurred in the man’s own home.

The emergency helicopter was later dispatched and did not arrive in Paskeville, with the man transported by ambulance to a nearby medical centre.

This latest dog attack comes only weeks after a nine-month old baby girl was bitten in Torrens on February 4.
